Sustainability / Our Mission

Our Actions And Our Responsibility.

A responsible and environmentally conscious attitude is firmly anchored in SET's daily actions. We produce with care and respect for people, animals and the environment. We select our materials according to sustainable criteria and successively convert our products accordingly. For many of our styles we use organic cotton and recycled polyester. We have decided not to use down or real fur. We do not use exotic leather and offer the "Vegan Leather", an animal-free alternative in our area of expertise. We are not an eco-label. But we work hard to be as environmentally friendly and innovative as possible under our own strict conditions and criteria. For us, our children and our children's children.

Made with love

Sustainability is longevity.

Our most important aspiration is to create fashion that can be worn and will be loved for a long time. Although SET is at home all over the world, most of the products in our collections are manufactured by experts in Europe. "Made in Europe" is not only a seal of quality for us - it also includes proximity to our partners and saves Co2! In other product groups we have been maintaining close relations with international producers for many years. Selected and traditional manufactories offer a well-founded expertise that is often unique in the world. This know-how flows into every single SET style.

The Golden Dot Edition

Our Sustainable Fashion Highlights.

With the Golden Dot Edition we have achieved something that has been close to our hearts for a long time: The products from our collection, which meet a special criterion of sustainability, are awarded our special hangtag with the Golden Dot - which stands for their special value. Step by step we are approaching the goal of producing as sustainably and valuable as possible. Each of the Golden Dot categories deals with different aspects and contributes to making the world a little bit better. Enjoy and participate!

Organic Cotton

The future of fashion is bio.

With organic cotton, the negative aspects of monoculture, fertilisation and pesticide use of conventional cotton cultivation are avoided. Fields on which organic cotton grows are cultivated in natural crop rotation. This means less fertiliser is required. Natural fertilisers such as liquid manure are used. The use of mineral oil fertiliser is completely prohibited. Pest infestation is also reduced by cultivating the fields with different plants in succession. Remaining pests are not controlled with pesticides, but manually removed from the plants. The ban on genetically modified seeds is self-evident.
Organic cotton is harvested by hand. At the same time, the aim is to ensure a fair wage for the workers. Harvesting by hand makes the highly toxic defoliants of conventional cotton cultivation unnecessary. Strict criteria also apply to the further processing of organic cotton. For example, the use of chemicals and artificial oils in the manufacture of fabrics is severely restricted or completely prohibited. Organic cotton is bleached only with oxygen. In addition, certified production sites must provide evidence of resource conserving management, wastewater filtration and fair working conditions.

Vegan Leather

Our core competence in animal-free.

No animal-based ingredients are used in vegan leather. It is a combination of a woven, elastic carrier material with a polyurethane coating. The development of the material allows for multiple variations and is very versatile. The goods can be further treated to create the desired look. For example, the material can be given a waxy sheen by additional coating or heat, or embossed with various leather-like grains. Likewise, consistently bright colours and a metallic sheen are no problem in production. The feel of vegan leather varies from soft and flexible to firm and grippy. The carrier material has an economical width. In contrast to real leather, cut pieces can be placed close together, thus avoiding waste. Vegan leather does not discolour and does not require chemical treatment on the inside.

Vegan fur

Pure luxury and trendy.

Vegan fur is a woven imitation fur in which no animal ingredients are used. A strongly twisted yarn, often made of cotton, is woven with a synthetic pile yarn. The protruding pile then forms the fur-like surface and can look like rabbit, mink, silver fox etc. depending on its composition. A thin polyurethane coating is applied in order to secure the long staple fibres on the left side of the fabric. Woven fur is lighter and softer than real fur. The advantage of woven fur over real fur is not only animal welfare but also the energy consumption, which is significantly lower than with real fur. Furthermore, woven fur has no "animal" smell - a difference that is particularly noticeable in damp weather. The prices for woven fur are lower than for real fur and therefore more attractive to buy. As with vegan leather, woven fur is produced by the metre. There is less waste from the outset. When cutting, less material is wasted due to the economical fabric width and every cut part has a consistent quality and appearance.

Down free

Sometimes ecologically is even economical.

The production of down for outdoor clothing often means a great deal of agony for the animals. The vegan variant is a padding made of synthetic fibre, which is equal to down in most attributes and even outstrips it in some. In contrast to real down, the padding made of polyester fibres copes very well with moisture. It does not crease or clump and is therefore suitable in cold and wet conditions. Those who don‘t have to count every gram of weight like an extreme alpinist will get along fine with a padded outdoor jacket and especially in the fashion sector there is no justification for conventionally produced real down.
